Advanced Human Development
Summer II, 2008
Course Description:
This course
will examine the principal concepts and problems involved in the development of
the individual from birth to maturity. Psychological development will be
considered from various perspectives, including the psychodynamic, the cultural,
familial, social, intellectual and spiritual aspects of human nature.
Course Objectives:
-
Students
will participate in research and on-line discussions of a variety of issues
related to human development across the lifespan.

Students will
demonstrate the ability to synthesize and apply the biological, cognitive,
and psychosocial development of the individual in terms of the cultural,
political, and economic environment surrounding that individual.

Students will
demonstrate the ability to interpret theoretical concepts in a creative
format understandable to a lay-person.

Students will
demonstrate an understanding of the complex internal and external influences
that affect human growth and development.

Students will
prepare and conduct a portfolio project on a relevant topic of their
choice.
